1.  There is no standard voltage in Brazil.

  • 127 volts electricity is used in most states.  (Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Pará, Paraná, Rondônia, Roraima, Sergipe and Minas Gerais).
  • 127 volts electricity is widely used in most parts of the states of Bahia, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul , 220 volts electricity is used in cities of Santos, Jequié, Jundiaí, São Bernardo do Campo, Novo Friburgo, Bagé, Caxias do Sul and Pelotas . The states of Pernambuco and Piauí use 220 volts electricity, while the cities of Paulista and Teresina use 127 volts electricity.
  • 220 volts electricity is used in Northeastern states (Alagoas, Brasília, Ceará, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina and Tocantins)

2.  All states in Japan use the same voltage, but the frequency of electricity differs from region to region. Eastern Japan(Tokyo, Kawasaki, Sapporo, Yokohama, Sendai) uses mainly 50 Hz , while Western Japan(Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hiroshima)  chooses 60 Hz.

3.  Many parts of Saudi Arabia, like the Dammam and al-Khobar area (situated in the eastern province of Ash Sharqiyah),  use 110 volts electricity. While 220 volts electricity can still be found in hotels.

4.  Frequency In Tahiti is 60 Hz, except for the Marquesas archipelago (50 Hz) .
