Easy Data Recovery On One Samsung Dead Hard Drive
This is one 3.5″ dead Samsung hard drive, when powering on the patient hard drive, there’s no spinning and no response at all and then not detected at all in bios.
From the PCB picture below, we can see there’s no external ROM chip on this Samsung PCB and the ROM contents are combined and integrated into the Main chip.
The engineer tried to find one PCB of the same number and layout and simply swap the main chip off the patient PCB and put it to the donor PCB and then install the donor PCB to the patient hard drive, power on the drive, the drive was spinning up normally.
Connecting the drive to DFL-SRP for Samsung, soft reset and then clear smart. The drive was properly detected in bios and scanned the drive, no bad sectors were found and all data were copied directly from the drive.
